Frequent questions about Small Groups
What is a Small Group?
Clear Creek Small Groups are informal groups of 10-20 adults that meet throughout the Hixson and greater Chattanooga area. Each Small Group meets to worship, study together, encourage each other and live together as Christ would live with us. The primary purpose of our Small Groups is to assist individuals in connecting to God and to each other.
Why should I join a Small Group? How do I benefit?
Small Group meetings are a place to build Godly relationships, deepen your faith, and apply the scriptures. You will begin to understand the Bible better in a small group; there's nothing like discovering God's Word together. You will begin to feel like you're a part of God's family, not just a face in the crowd. It is a setting for sharing of prayer requests and celebration of answered prayers. Prayer will become more meaningful for you; your friends will be praying for you and with you. It can present opportunities to use your God-given gifts in ministry.
We passionately seek after God's two greatest commands. These are to love God and to love each other. God calls us to glorify Him through a church that loves as God loves us. One place God is teaching Hixson how to love is in the intimate meetings of Christians in living rooms across our community.
At times, it can be difficult to build a relationship with Christ when you do not have any Christian relationships. Small Groups are the perfect place to develop a Christian relationship. We believe that as society becomes more and more impersonal, our church must become more and more personal. Because of our Small Groups, we believe that Clear Creek can have all the advantages of a large church with the close, intimate feel of a family.
Are all Small Groups the same?
The short answer is "No." There are different groups because we have all kinds of people. We have groups with married couples, empty nesters, single adults, blended groups, men's groups, and women's groups, just to name a few. Basically, we have a small group for just about everyone and everything. Our groups are focused on "connecting people to God and to each other."
Is there childcare available?
Every group deals with this issue in its own way. Some of the groups go in together and make arrangements for a babysitter or take turns watching the children. Other groups request each participant to make their own arrangements. Clear Creek will provide childcare in special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
How do you become involved?
Your Small Group can be based on your choice of location, personality, life situation or relationships. Contact a group leader to inform him or her of your interest and get details of the group's meetings. If you would like more information or do not know any of the group leaders, give one of the ministry leaders a call - Bobby Hicks (423-842-3707) or Jake Hendrix (530-415-3424).
