Ministry News


August 20: Embracing Forgiveness.  Have you ever heard the phrase, “it’s too much to forgive?”  At times our pain is so deep that forgiveness doesn’t seem like an option.  But eventually, God can lead you to replace your anger and resentment with forgiveness and grace.  Maybe the best way we can do that is to receive the best gift of forgiveness there ever was...only then will we be “GETTING OVER IT.”

Small Groups

Service Opportunities for Small Groups: Connect with our community face to face by service to others. Many opportunities are available. See the Small Group bulletin board in the office or call for more information.

Children's Ministry 

Aug. 27:  Elementary Family Connection Night: All elementary families are invited to the Big Ridge pool for an evening of fun, food and togetherness from 6:00-8:00 pm. We have the whole facility, bring potluck dishes and drinks to share. Invite your friends who don't have a church home. 

Youth Ministry

Aug. 20: Youth Family Connection Event: 5:00-7:00 at Holiday Bowl in Hixson. For ALL youth families. Connect and build relationships over a freindly game of 10-pin! Bowling and shoes are free. RSVP needed. 

Aug. 27: Sixth Grade Parent Meeting: Immediately following the 10:45 worship, in The Creek. A meal will be served for 6th grade families. 

Sundays: Middle School & High School Youth groups: Meet at 10:45; worship at 9:30.

University Christian Mission & Young Adults 

Sept. 1-4: UCM Beach Trip: Gulf Shores, AL.  Cost is $50. Register and pay online.

Women's Ministry 

Sept. 29-30: Women’s Retreat: Ladies, join us for a time of connection as we talk about Our Story. Cost is $70 and includes lodging (Doubletree in Murfreesboro) and breakfast. Register online or contact the office.

Sept. 12: Tuesdays Ladies Small Group will resume with the study, Minor Prophets Part 2. 

Sept. 18: Monday Ladies Small Group will resume with the study, Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength.

Men's Ministry

Aug. 31: Men’s Fellowship Night: All men are invited to a night of food and fellowship. Bring a friend or co-worker. Starting at 6:00 in the café, enjoy a great meal and hear about opportunities our men have on the backside of the year. Then, for those interested, stay as we kickoff our fantasy football draft starting at 7:30.  

Friday Morning Small Group:  Devo and breakfast at 6:30-7:30am in the conference room.

News & Events

Tuesdays in August:  The Deep End series: Factual Fictions, Imagined Stories that Lead to Real Life.  Children will meet in their classes and youth will meet in the Worship Center for The Deep End.  If you have friends who go to another church or do not go to church, this is a great opportunity for them to be your guest.  The lessons start at 6:30.

Aug. 18:  Bus Trip: All are invited; going to Soddy Daisy “Good Old Days” area history museum at 11:00 am, and Home Folks Buffet Restaurant at noon. Cost is $3 for museum and $12 for buffet. To ride bus, leave message at 423-870-0940 or carpool in your vehicle. 

Aug. 22: Meal before The Deep End: (5:30-6:15) Sweet and sour meatballs and dessert. Sign up at info desk in lobby and gym or call the office to RSVP.  

Sept. 10:  Connection Sunday: Visit a Small Group, serve in a ministry, and grow in your journey with God!

Sept. 17-Nov. 12:  Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University: Biblically based and using the principles found in God’s Word concerning money, Financial Peace University teaches people how to handle money God’s way and discern the way which God would have you steward the assets with which He blesses you. Register online or contact the church office.  

Oct. 1-Nov. 26:  Dynamic Marriage: This class is about transformation, not just information.  Dynamic Marriage is a powerful, marriage enrichment course that creates real and lasting change.  Over nine weeks, couples will meet to discuss new concepts, develop new skills and delve into the unique ‘dynamics’ of their own marriage.  Register online or contact the office for information.

Gary Roden, friend of Gail Bales, and Ken and Jan Hudgins, has been accepted for clinical trials at Duke University concerning malignant brain tumor.

Lost and Found:  Bibles, jackets, insulated cups, etc., if not where they were left, are in the church office and are periodically donated if unclaimed.  Check with the church office regarding lost money or jewelry.
