Ministry News


Oct. 22: Desperate: Nowhere Else to Turn. The Bible is filled with stories that show the gift of desperation.  God has always been drawn to the desperate.  His strength is always attracted to weakness.  And we want to experience His power and presence, but here is the troubling question we must all answer: “Am I DESPERATE to experience it?”

Small Groups

Service Opportunities for Small Groups: Connect with our community face to face by service to others. Many opportunities are available. See the Small Group bulletin board in the office or call for more information.

Children's Ministry 

Oct. 25: Costume Parade: Children fifth grade and under are invited to wear their costumes to class. Bring your friends too!  Everyone is invited to see the parade and stay for refreshments in the gym!

Sunday: PreK attend class at 9:30 am and 10:45 Cradle Roll, Nursery or Wee Worship. Elementary groups at 9:30 or 10:45 am. 

Youth Ministry

Oct. 21: Mayfield Corn Maze: All youth group invited; bring a friend. Cost varies from $10 for general admission to $23 for Ga. and Haunted Trail, plus fast food on the way to Athens. Chaperones are welcome. Leave church at 5:00 pm, return by 11:30. 

Nov. 3-5:  Fall Youth Retreat: Camp ToKnowHim in Pisgah, AL. Information and registration online.  

Sundays: Middle School & High School Youth groups: Meet at 10:45; worship at 9:30.

University Christian Mission & Young Adults

Women's Ministry 

Monday Ladies Group: Gideon: Your Weakness, God's Strength, in the cafe 10:00-11:30am.

Oct. 25:  Children's Costume Parade:  After class, watch the parade and enjoy refreshments in the gym. 

Nov. 1: Wednesday Night Meal:  Cheesy Chicken Noodle Bake and dessert in the gym 5:30-6:15pm. Sign up at info desk in lobby or gym, or call the office to RSVP. 

Nov. 7:  FREE Dave Ramsey’s Smart Money Event at Clear Creek 8:00-11:00 pm. Through Financial Peace University, millions have found the freedom that getting out of debt can bring to their lives; it gives you the opportunity to give more of your time and your talents than ever before.  Clear Creek wants that financial peace for everyone. On November 7, Clear Creek will host a live stream of Dave Ramsey’s event, Smart Money.  It’s free; register today online or contact the office.

Family News

Congratulations to Heath and Allison Patterson on the birth of their son, Charles Wells, on Oct. 17. Mother and baby are doing well.

We express our sympathy to Lou Tirey and family on the loss of her sister, Dorothy Nell Todd, on Oct. 15. 

We express our sympathy to Ken Higgins and family on the death of his sister, Becky Higgins Spiegelhalter, on Oct. 13. 

Clear Creek has several outreach opportunities, the Costume Parade and Friends and Family Day, to invite your friends and neighbors without a church home to come and meet your church family.  Use these fun, casual and informal events and invite that family or individual that you want to know Jesus.

Prayer Requests 

Keith Daniel, father of Brittany Ward and Brett Daniel, is in MICU at Memorial downtown with infection and respiratory issues. 

Bonnie Shipley, mother of Janet Yates, has shingles and is confined at home. Prayers and cards appreciated; 9119 Ballew Lane, Hixson, TN 37343. 

Margaret Thurman, grandmother of Jennifer F. Smith, is in Red Bank Life Care Center, room 116, after a fall. Prayers and visits would be appreciated. 

Matt Snyder, son-in-law of Gary and Rosemary Carson, is improving daily after a successful heart transplant and shows no signs of rejection.  His address is: 202 W. Iowa St., Urbana, IL   61801.  

Glenn Ellis, husband of Sherry Ellis, is awaiting test results. (Care Group 3)

Lost and Found:  Bibles, jackets, insulated cups, etc., if not where they were left, are in the church office and are periodically donated if unclaimed.  Check with the church office regarding lost money or jewelry.
